Artist: General
Album Title: The Best Of General

It don't get no rawer than this. Literally. DJ Rebel's ode to street sensation General is a gritty, oft times choppy but ultimately funky collection of the rapper's skillz.

The Best Of General is a mix of exclusives, freestyles and sneak peeks at cuts from General's debut This Thing Of Ours on Good Game/ Black Ground/ Universal Records. General follows in the path of and stays true to the gangsta Philly streets sounds of Major Figgas, RAM Squad, State Property, etc. On songs such as the hardcore Ghetto Gutter Slums it all comes together for this story teller telling it like it is in the streets. The ruthless rhyme matter continues on the Quarta Ki collabo We Pop Clips, which is included in his upcoming album This Thing Of Ours. It makes the head nod without hittin you over the head with excessiveness. They bring just enuff of the funk to work it well. General quickly flips the script with a tight rhyme over the Ohh Boy sounds of Jay-Z and his own twist on R. Kelly's I'm Wit My Gyrl. Those cuts aside, the highlight of The Best Of General is the fuuuuuuuuunky Welcome To Philly with Journalist joining in to bless the mic.

General is the real deal. Schoolly D would be proud to know that Philly's still reppin' it as gritty as the day he gave birth to gangsta rap. The backpack set ain't gonna be feelin' this too much cause its straight gutter. The corner boys are gonna eat it up like the bags of Rap Snacks they crunch on while handlin' business. If you like it explicit, hard and raw you need to get a General admission ticket and come inside for the show...
