Has Philly ever seen a rapper's stock rise quicker than
L-Nation representa Cassidy? This buck is known for
far more than coming outta nowhere to destroy Freeway
in that now infamous freestyle battle. He's also busy
makin' money wit the big boys up in NYC who are increasingly
looking ninety miles south to the 215 for Hip Hop talent
to add to their mix.
On Salute Me (Remix), Cassidy follows heavyweight
Nas and literal heavyweight Fat Joe and damn if he doesn't
hold his own with a forceful blast of that ole' Philly
Gully sound. Confidence is one thing this emcee don't
lack. He sounds right at home with Swizz Beat's signature
sound spittin' grimy darts like "its Cassidy
ock get rocked like a boat when you go fishin, ayo listen
I'm the general like Tso's chicken..."
If you're wearing a white tee and Air Force Ones you're
no doubt a fan of up and coming star Cassidy. He's got
the Philly Gully on lock. Others who aren't so quick
to embrace this street style may be surprised when they
take the time to listen to the complexity and lyricism
that the Philly brotha puts on display. New Yorkers
haven't taken to a Philly emcee like this since way
back in the day when they accepted the legendary EST
as an honorary New Yorker. That said, Cassidy is strictly
Philly, loves Philly and reps Philly to the fullest.
The talent is there. The cameos have been knocked out.
The buzz is in high intensity mode. When Cassidy drops
his debut album it's about to be on.Cassidy deserves
to be saluted. What more can I say?
Are you feelin' "Salute Me (Remix)" or not?
