Take Down Records has literally flooded the streets
with copies of Best Of Bugsy Freestyles: Volume 1
to the point that we just couldn't ignore it any longer.
Proudly representing Southwest Philly, Bugsy is the
latest of the Philly Gully emcees. While he's got his
own style and sound he makes music in the same vein
as Cassidy, Tommy Hill, Gener'al, NAAM Brigade and Freeway.
The album features the hit Scratchin' & Survivin'
with Snake and Freeway that's getting spins at just
about every spot from Trenton to Chester to Wilmington
and beyond. This young brother made his rep in the streets
and the streets are clearly in his delivery. He's a
cocky, confident and commanding spitter as is evidenced
on I'm Ready with Freeway, Snake and Hydro. He
changes up his style on We Came 2 Party where
he sounds most comfortable and assured of himself. He
also shows the ability to do it live on the freestyle
that he did with Young Chris and Freeway on Power 99
FM. The rest of the album is filled out with Bugsy's
own strong renditions of more established and familiar
Hip Hop artists like Dr. Dre and cuts of his own. Of
the stronger examples of his own material being his
collabo with Philly Swain and Rome that they call We
Built This City.
Bugsy proves that he has presence on the mic, is already
a favorite among the corner boy crowd and is well positioned
to break nationally as he has the whole formula down
flat. Good things are destined for Bugsy. Take Down
has made it so.
