Blueface may be a new name to the game but the face
is familiar because as Boy Backs from RAM Squad this
brother entrenched himself and his Richard Allen Mobsters
deep in the local Hip Hop game. With the squad now only
a distant memory, Blueface has struck out on his own
and is set to drop is solo debut Union 288 on
August 6th.
Not straying far from the formula that made RAM Squad
an underground phenomenon, Blue comes with M.I.B.
as one of his first joints off of his new effort. It's
no surprise that M.I.B. is an acronym for "money
in the bank." This grizzled veteran sticks to what
he knows. Of course it helps that he does it well. With
assistance from former squad member Tommy Hill, or as
he's now known in his solo incarnation: Tommy Bankroll,
it comes off like a another tight RAM Squad song. While
M.I.B. isn't anything too deep or cerebral, it it good
head noddin' street music. The production is top notch
and the track is the model that simultaneously get play
on commercial radio, in bling bling clubs like Pegasus,
spins in Dirty South roadhouses and most importantly
in the systems of young inner city men profilin' in
and out of the tight streets of Uptown and beyond.
I've personally bumped it with the top down, repeatedly.
It's simple yet infectious. Come to think of it, that's
the formula for a hit...
