Being Black rests in a niche where Afrocentric poetry
and complex street linguists coexist in impressive harmony.
While not completely filled with Philly artists, there
is enough poppin' to throw it up in here.
Ursula Rucker shows up repeatedly as she literally
emcees through the cuts, teaming with King Britt, Rob
Swift, DJ Revolution and others, the highlight being
her go round with Rev that goes by the name of Each
One Of Us Suffers. Strong words. Stronger bass. The
classic Love Of The Game from Jazzy Jeff, Baby Blak
and Pauly Yamz is part of Being Black. That's the type
level ish we're talkin' about here. And yes y'all!!!
A new slaaaaaaaaaaaamin track from Bahamadia entitled
One-4-Teen. It's exactly what we've come to expect from
the queen on her laid back jazzerific vibe.
The rest of the album features strong songs from Jurassic
5, Mystic and the strength and power of Dilated Peoples
Pay Attention. Will I Am also teams with Huck Fynn and
Ozelem for the head knockin' body rockin' Money.
Simply stated, Being Black needs to be the next addition
to your collection.
