As the year of The Roc rolls on... You'd think that
by now the entire 215 would be tired of the Philly-
Roc connect but the fact that they keep crankin' out
quality product makes the saturation unexpectedly enjoyable.
It stays major league on the soundtrack to Paid In
Full with the autobiographical Home Of Philly.
Soldiers Beanie and Young Chris show maturity in their
approach by being able to relax and expand their deliveries
to match the sleepy tone of the song's instrumentation.
This proves to be one of those groove's that resembles
that comfortable and slowed down dizziness you slide
through on your way to sleep. It's comfortable. Young
Chris turns in a strong performance and suonds right
at home trading rhymes with his more accomplished Illadelph
cohort. Beanie and Chris have a good chemistry that
has them come off as family. Musically speaking they
are.
Home Of Philly succeeds because it branches out
the scope, feel and sound associated with Roc-A-Fella
without betraying the label's trademark polished street
sounds. You know those tracks you turn up in the ride
and nod the head to in slow motion with a slight smile
on your face? This is one of those songs.
