I have been a longtime supporter of the best mayor
Philadelphia has ever had. Now I want him to be my governor.
Because of the audience and traffic that PhillyHipHop.com
generates, Ed's campaign has reached out to me to help
get out the Hip Hop vote this coming Tuesday, May 21st,
2002. I've obviously accepted and sincerely urge the
Philly Hip Hop family to stand strongly behind Ed Rendell.
He is the only one who can do for the state what he
did for our city.
Ed's opponent, Bob Casey, Jr. is painfully unqualified
to become Pennsylvania's governor. I think everyone
acknowledges that the ONLY reason he is even being considered
is because he is riding off of his family name. Bob
Casey, Sr. was a very good PA governor who enjoyed tremendous
public support. Unfortunately his son is surviving off
of the fumes of his deceased dad. He has no experience
and no love for Philadelphia.
I think those of us in Philadelphia have grown up knowing
that politically speaking, the rest of the state hates
us. People often hear me saying, "I'm not from
Pennsylvania, I'm from Philly." That resentful
bunker mentality is engrained in me. I wear it like
a badge and I know many of you share my hometown passion
and sentiment. To me it's clear that the only sensible
choice for Philadelphians is Ed Rendell. He knows us
and loves us. He lives in East Falls! He'll look out
for us in Harrisburg. I know that we all see Casey on
TV claiming his affection for the 215 but it rings hollow
to a real Fightin' Phil. Outside of Southeastern PA,
Casey plays to the anti-Philadelphia sentiment that
is especially strong in Western, Middle and Northeastern
PA. In his Scranton base he sings a different tune about
us. I was there this past weekend and hear it and saw
it for myself. Casey is shook to the point where he's
telling desperate "falsehoods" in his ads.
Pennsylvania politicians pull the "Philadelphia
card" as our state's equivalent of the race card.
As if all that wasn't enough to get out and represent
for Ed, he supports a woman's right to choose and has
won the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania
Advocates who have said "Ed Rendell is the only
candidate for Governor with a proven track record of
advocacy for women's health care in this state. On behalf
of the patients of Planned Parenthood, we thank him
for his record of the past and are certain that he will
continue this legacy of excellence as the Governor of
Pennsylvania." Remember, Bob Casey, Jr. will not
let freedom ring.
We are the largest city in this state. If we come out
in force on Tuesday, the rest of the state can not stop
us from putting "America's Mayor" in the governor's
mansion. It's time to fight back. FUNK the rest of the
world...
