"The ultimate measure of a man is not where
he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but
where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige
and even his life for the welfare of others."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I've received so many messages concerning illegal activities
of local police that I've decided that its time for
us to create a permanent forum to report our experiences.
I am not afraid and you shouldn't be either. While there
are numerous wonderful police officers on the job, there
is also an outlaw faction within the ranks that needs
to be held accountable for their actions. Police continue
to shoot unarmed Black men, flaunt racial profiling,
assault minorities and poor whites simply because they
can, sell drugs in our community and violate our civil
rights on a daily basis. I've lived through Frank Rizzo's
illegal activity against the Black Panther Party, international
disgrace for videotaped beatings and the daily hassle
of living in a place where many police do not protect
or serve US! We need to police the police. I'm not just
talking about the Philly police either. How many of
us KNOW that when we're in the suburbs and get stopped
by police that they're going to be harder on us simply
because we are residents of Philadelphia??? Very recently,
pressure on me to discontinue my feelings about bad
law enforcement has greatly increased. To my detractors
(those who have something to hide) I say bring it on.
I have nothing to fear as long as I speak the truth.
I have no concern for your condemnation because God
will reward and protect me.
