Why Operation Safe Streets is a Joke

"The objective of the new operation is to disrupt drug sales and force dealers
to relocate indoors or to other locations
"
-Philadelphia Mayor John Street

"We are not just going to move the drug trade from one neighborhood to another"
-Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson

What's the difference between John Street and Marion Barry? Marion Barry got caught. Read that comment over and over again and let his bumble headedness sink in. This guy who is unfortunately our mayor is a pathetic boob. Wouldn't a real mayor have the balls to say that the objective was to put an END to drug sales instead of just taking it out of the public's view? This idiot has once again exposed his shortcomings and made it crystal clear that this bogus Operation Safe Streets is just more window dressing designed to stroke public perception. After his moronic "brothers and sisters run this city" debacle, Mayor One Term (aka John Street) should just keep his trap shut and join us in the countdown until his regime ends. Let's discuss the real meat behind this whole thing:

After losing an outrageously popular police commissioner in John Timoney (who was smart enough to get out of town) Mayor One Term finally announced his replacement in Sylvester Johnson. Nothing personal but going from the media savvy and charismatic Timoney to the drab, babbling monotone persona of Johnson doesn't instill much confidence in those us of left in the city. This guy can barely string two sentences together in front of the cameras and they think he's going to make us feel properly protected and served in us? Hell, just to get the Philly PD to respond you have to tell 911 that there's a dead white lady on your lawn... but that's another rant for another day. This latest "operation" is simply an attempt to misdirect our attention away from the heat that Mayor One Term is taking nationally for his comments to the NAACP that "we run this city", referring to African Americans and Latinos. Whether or not you agree with his comments, the fact is that he's taking considerable heat for it.

What's the difference between Mayor One Term and President Bush? Nothing. What Street has orchestrated with Operation Safe Streets is the same slight of hand that My Daddy & The Conservative White Power Structure Helped Me Steal The Presidency George DUMBaya Bush pulled off with those bogus "tax rebate vouchers" that he threw at us with the sole intention of making us forget that he stole the presidency. This is the same exact thing.

As Philadelphia tax payers, shouldn't we expect Operation Safe Streets EVERY SINGLE DAY from our police department? Here's a novel thought... how about Operation Stop Cop. That's where we put a halt to the widespread practice of cops "confiscating" drugs only to turn around and sell them back into our communities. Now I know we have many good police officers in town but we all know about the scumbags in blue.

What comes to mind in reading One Term's comment about forcing dealers to relocate indoors makes me think of Chestnut Hill. Yes, Chestnut Hill. What's the difference between Chestnut Hill and The Badlands? Drugs are sold indoors in Chestnut Hill. The doctors, lawyers, elected officials and philanthropists who buy drugs in Chestnut Hill (and you better believe they do), do business in closed foyers instead of the scary "open air drug markets" that the media and city government throw around as buzzwords.

Of course if you take the time to examine the logistics of Operation Safe Streets past the 45 second snapshots on the news, you'll soon realize that the city simply doesn't have the manpower in place to make this initiative actually work. Since we're all lovers of the internet and believers in technology I offer this to prove what a joke Operation Safe Streets is...

The official City Of Philadelphia website has absolutely no mention of Operation Safe Streets on their homepage but you can get tickets for the Mayor's City Hall Ball
